Valeria Carboni was born in Rome in 1990 and grew up in Aprilia. After finishing high school she travelled to the big cities of the world such as Milan, London, Paris, Barcelona, Berlin, Nairobi, Kampala, Los Angeles, Mexico City and New York City, where she currently lives and studies. The influence of these big cities has increased Valeria’s interest in art, in particular for urban dances, street art and HIP HOP culture.
By coming into contact with the communities of painters and dancers in the cities where she studied, she had the opportunity to learn new languages and express new concepts through her paintings and murals. In 2011 she studied at R.U.F.A. (Rome University of Fine Arts), before moving to Milan and continuing her studies in painting, photography and video at the Academy of Fine Arts in Milan. After graduating in painting in 2013, she collaborated with non-profit organisations in Nairobi, Kampala in dance and painting. In Nairobi she curated a collective art show called “Element” in the Italian Institute of Culture.
In 2015 she moved to New York, perfecting her artistic techniques, and collaborating with different artists from all around the world. She had the opportunity to participate as a painter in live performances at the Funkbox party, (Cielo), one of the most famous New York clubs for House music. In 2017 she was part of the annual art show “Spread Art NYC ” in Brooklyn, “Love it or Hate it” in lower east side Manhattan and “Rawartist ” in Astoria Queens in 2019. After working as a freelance and as an assistant for other artists, she started to work with Mural Paint inc in NYC.
In 2018 she became part of the “immigrant artist program” organised by NYFA (New York Foundation For the art ). In 2019 she was part of the art show “Wild Wild Heart” in NYliveart in Chelsea, Manhattan. During 2018/2019 she participated as a live painter at the art festival “Africans” in Kampala.
In 2019 She moved to Los Angeles, where she started to work more as an independent artist, live painter and body painter. Keshanti clothing brand was born through the fusion of the urban and underground environment where she lived and created as a graffiti artist. Keshanti is not only a clothing brand, but it’s a lifestyle, created to inspire people that are living in the big or small metropolis. She currently lives in Los Angeles, working as a freelance artist .
